The Art of Giving Fundraiser

On October 11, 2007 Evans Real Estate hosted The Art of Giving Fundraiser. We would like to thank everyone who attended for your support and generosity that helped make this event a great success.

The Art of Giving Fundraiser was dedicated to increase awareness about Neuroblastoma - one of the most deadly forms of pediatric cancer. All of the proceeds from the door and sales in the amount of $3,100 dollars went to "band of parents" campain at www.cncf-childcancer.org

We organized this Fundraising Event to honor the strength and courage of a four year old boy Toby Pannone and his family. Toby Pannone is a remarkable boy battling neuroblastoma, an aggressive form of pediatric cancer. He lives with his parents, Stephen Pannone and Mooki Saltzman, and his big brother Yoni in Windsor Terrace. Since his diagnosis in April, he has been through several surgeries and six rounds of chemotherapy. He has recently begun radiation and antibody therapy, which will last for many months to come. To get more information about Toby and be part of the community that is supporting him, visit his blog at: http://tobypannone.blogspot.com

What is Neuroblastoma?

One of the most deadly forms of pediatric cancer is Neuroblastoma. It is a solid tumor cancer that strikes mainly infants and young toddlers. The incidence rate in infants is almost double that of leukemia. Diagnosis of neuroblastoma can be complicated. It has been called the "great masquerader" because its symptoms mimic so many other diseases. The 5-year survival rate for these high risk children is only about 30%. There is no known cure. Only through research and education can we someday change that statistic to mirror the survival rate of other children’’ cancers. One form of leukemia now has a “cure” rate of about 85-90%. That has only come about because of heightened awareness in society and the millions of dollars raised for research. We can do the same for neuroblastoma, but we need your help! For more information on the organization please visit www.cncf-childcancer.org

Please join us in the fight against a disease that is taking the lives of young children each and every day.
